General Podiatry

What is general podiatry?

General podiatry is routine treatment and management of the skin and nails by the podiatrist. Any concern about your feet or legs can be brought up with the podiatrist. Thick, ingrown and difficult to cut nails can be expertly trimmed and filed. Corns, callus and fissures can be removed by shaving away the problematic skin. Below are some of the most common conditions we treat.

Nails conditions we often treat

  • elongated nails
  • thickened nails
  • fungal infections of the nail
  • ingrown toenails
  • involuted nails (excessively curved nails causing irritation)
  • cracked nails
  • damaged nails (eg. bruised nails, lifting nails)

Skin conditions we often treat:

  • callus (thickened hard skin)
  • corns
  • fissures (cracked skin)
  • tinea
  • warts
  • blisters
  • chilblains
